This painting is in the Holiday Show at Harris Stanton Gallery in Akron Ohio.  I started painting it a while back and it sat in storage for a long time because I didn't know how to finish it.  When I included it in my portfolio unfinished, the gallery picked this one for the holiday show and then I was forced to finish it.  As I was walking it out the door I noticed more changes I would like to make it.  ?

"Channel 8 News with Flamingos" is also at Harris Stanton Gallery holiday show.  This painting was also in storage for a while.  Usually I put paintings away when I don't know what to do with them. When I pulled it out of storage I had it sitting on a table and I threw the flamingo cutouts across the table and they landed on this painting and I knew I had completed the painting/collage.  It was hard for me to part with this piece.

This painting is postcard size donated to a fundraiser in NYC for Visual Aids, an organization that  supports artists in the fight against Aids.

This painting marks a turning point in my paintings.  It's a direction that I want to continue in. I've always been interested in collage and to transfer it into painting opens up a whole new arena for me.  I have been having alot of ideas lately and the collage will let me play with and develope these ideas in the paintings.

Vermilion Lighthouse

This is Vermilion Lighthouse on Lake Erie.  It's part of a series of work I am doing for The Lake Erie Nature and Science Center Fundraiser "The Bake near The Lake" to raise money for the center and its programs.  This year the event will be held on September 7th, 2013.

"House on Sunny Day"

The idea for this painting originally came from Alfred Stieglitz's photograph "Gable and Apples" 1922.  I wanted to convey the idea of a rooftop of a house with apples in front as in the photograph, however the placement of the my house threw me off and I ended up using a canopy of leaves.   Now that I see them next to each other my painting looks completely different than the photograph.

"Gateway"

I wanted to reduce the house to its most basic shape and see what happens when all other information around the house is reduced too.

This painting is enlarged from a collage.  The house is reduced to and indication of a house, mainly recognizable by the roofline.  Some information is included in the background with some leaves.  The red crops the house so that it is partially obstructed.

This collage is in the YWCA "31st Annual Women Artists: A Celebration" in Youngstown, Ohio.  The show runs through July 22.

The first few paintings in the series of house paintings  hold a special place to me. This painting is 16"x 20" and was one of those.  The reproduction does not show the translucency of the acrylic paint as the original.

This is an interior that I did originally small for a gift for family and I enlarged it to a 36"x24".        Although the study and the painting are the same image they actually are very different from each other.  I need to find a decent picture of the study to post it.
